Muurabay comprises 13 hectares or 35 acres of some of the best farmland in the Coffs Harbour area. The farm can be divided into 3 sections. The front ‘house’ section gently rises up from the road and then rolls back to the first creek. There are five paddocks, the cattle yards and stables, the loading ramp and house block. The excellent fencing is a mix of traditional 4 strand barb wire, new boundary ringlock and electric internal fencing.
The 13 acres of ‘flats’ is home to the very best heavy chocolate soils in the region. Sandwiched between 2 creeks and bounded to the east by protected forest, the 6 paddocks on the ‘flats’ are accessed from a laneway and has a very high carrying capacity. The flats respond exceptionally well to improved winter pastures. We have only ever applied organic fertilizers and crushed rock over the past 13 years but the ‘flats’ always carry a good body of kikuyu, paspalum and clover-based pasture.
Beyond the second creek is the lagoon and back hill paddock which enjoys a great northerly aspect, a perfect second building site, good shade and windbreaks and would be ideal for tree crops such as olives, macadamias, pecans or shared plantation of native timbers.
The hill paddock is perfect for wintering dry cattle or for when the ‘flats’ get too wet. Stock can water from the lagoon and it is part of a permanent creek on the northern boundary. You can drive over all the farm in a conventional vehicle, although you may need four wheel drive when its wet.
